Christmas is the time of festivity, a time to create memories for us to cherish for the rest of our lives. This is the time when stories are passed down from generations to generations to keep the spirit of Christmas alive. • The Gift of the Magi
The beautiful story of a couple who sacrifices their proud possessions to buy gifts for each other on a Christmas evening. They are poor in money, but rich in love. Desperate to gift the love of their life a good present, Jim sells his gold pocket watch to buy expensive combs for Della and Della cuts and sells her lustrous hair to buy the platinum watch chain. The narrator concludes by suggesting that Jim and Della are wiser than the Magi, as the gift of self-sacrifice for true love stands over everything.
• A Christmas Carol
Ebenezer Scrooge – a miserly, mean-spirited old man goes on with his greedy ways on Christmas Eve, overworking his employee Bob Cratchit and yelling at his nephew. That night, Jacob Marley, his dead business partner visits him from beyond and warns Scrooge of the repercussions of his behavior. The Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future shows Scrooge how he had turned down on the love of his life, how Cratchit’s son will die if the future is not changed and how Scrooge’s death affects the people around him. This incident transforms him to be a humble and caring man, also helping to spread the true spirit of Christmas.
• The Tale of the Traditional Christmas Pudding

Martha and her devoted husband Archie, bought a brand new microwave for Christmas. She was so excited to find out it only takes 10 minutes to bake a cake, prompting her to substitute the normal cooking time of 50 minutes. For luck, she made each of the family members to stir the mixture and put the tray in the microwave. Eventually, Martha forgot to turn off the microwave in 10 minutes, ending up in explosions and a completely burnt Christmas cake. Archie had to scoop out the black ball from the bowl using a screwdriver giving their St. Bernard puppy, Togo, an indestructible toy to play with.

As time went by Grandpa came to the realisation that shopping for Christmas presents had become a tough task as his grandchildren had everything they wanted. So he decided to send them a cheque with a note saying:

Over time he came to know his grandchildren were getting slightly distant from him. Then one day, as he was organizing his study and under a heap of newspapers he found a little pile of cheques that he had forgotten to send to his grandchildren with the note!

A three hundred sixty-five years old oak tree laments that Ephemera has just a single day to live, after having a conversation with them. The Ephemera disapproves, explaining their lives are filled with joyous moments of beauty and that dead does not result in the end of the world. As winter approaches, the oak tree falls asleep and has a magnificent involving Christmas time and relives his life in a single moment. The oak tree stretches up, and its roots are freed from the ground, and it floats upwards. Simultaneously, a great storm rages and uproots the tree in the real world, killing it. A ship of sailors who passes by laments the passing of the tree which they used as a landmark for years.
• A Christmas Tree and a Wedding

The narrator appears to be amused by a Christmas party he attended years ago than the wedding he just attended. A party hosted for the rich to discuss business under the context of a children’s party. The wealthiest man present was Julian Mastakovich, a landowner. The children received gifts according to their social and financial status, the wealthy government contractor’s eleven-year-old daughter, for whom he had set aside 3,00,000 rubles as dowry, receiving an expensive doll. Mastakovich seems to take particular interest in the little girl at that time. Well oh well, five years later the wedding that the narrator attended was indeed the wedding between Mastakovich and the rich and now sixteen-year-old girl.
• The Missing Five Pound Note

Chippenham George worked at the post office and once received a mail addressed “To God”. With nothing else to do but open it, he figures with his colleagues it was written by a 93-year-old widow whose purse was stolen with £100 in it. She has invited her friends over for Christmas next week and is asking for help from God to help her buy food and other necessities. Feeling bad, they raise £95 and send it to her. Sometime after Christmas, they receive another mail for God saying the Christmas went well but £5 were missing and it is probably the “thieving fellows at the Post Office” who took it.
• The Gold Wrapping Paper

A man who had to work very hard to support his family once came home to find out his daughter had used up all the gold wrapping paper and punished her for that. On Christmas day the little girl presented the shoebox to him, and he finds it to be empty, prompting him to scold her for using the paper to wrap an empty box. But the little girl says that it is not empty, and she blew kisses into it until it is full. He is crushed and holds his precious little thing close to himself realising what she did for him. There is nothing more precious than unconditional love that we receive from our family, friends and God himself.

A day after Christmas, Father John notices that the figure of baby Jesus is missing from the nativity scene. He first reaction was to call the local policeman, but as he was about to proceed, he found little Nathan with his red wagon which he received as a gift and the wagon was holding the baby Jesus figure. Father John asks Nathan why he took the little infant from the scene. Nathan responds with a grin that last week he promised Jesus if he would get him a red wagon for Christmas, he would take Jesus for a ride around the block.
